How trimming happens.

Three steps. None of them involve a server.

  1. Step 01 1

    Drop the video.

    Pick an MP4 or MOV. The file stays on your device and is read by this tab only.

  2. Step 02 2

    Set the range.

    Type start and end times. Use minutes:seconds like 0:30 or 1:45. Leave End blank to keep the rest.

  3. Step 03 3

    Download the MP4.

    The browser re-encodes the kept portion locally, then gives you a fresh MP4.

Is this frame-accurate?
It is as accurate as the keyframe structure of the source allows. The trim starts at the first decoded frame at or after your start time, so the cut may be a few frames earlier than requested. For most use cases this is imperceptible.

Does this re-encode the video?
Yes. The kept portion is decoded and re-encoded to ensure a clean output file. We force a keyframe at the start of the trimmed section so the output plays correctly from the beginning.

Does this upload my video?
No. Everything runs entirely in your browser using WebCodecs and a Web Worker.

Will the audio stay?
AAC audio is passed through unchanged for the kept portion. Non-AAC audio may be dropped in this first version.

Which files work?
Today: MP4 / MOV / M4V containers with H.264 or browser-decodable HEVC video. The output is MP4 with H.264 video.
